Learning Plan
Cohort 19 Learning Community Plan
“Learning communities, as we define them, purposefully restructure the curriculum to link together courses or course work so that students find greater coherence in what they are learning as well as increased intellectual interaction with faculty and fellow students.”
– Learning Communities: Creating Connections Among Students, Faculty, and Disciplines; Gabelnick, MacGregor, Matthews, & Smith, 1990, p. 5
Cohort 19 students as well as other doctoral students at Wilmington University have to possess a wide range of skills and knowledge to translate complex research into effective systems of leadership and bring effective innovations. Cohort 19 EDD students will attain success in the program by facilitating the development, articulation, and implementation of the vision of learning that is based on core beliefs of Cohort 19 group and six leadership standards.
The following standards-based essential elements direct the development of Cohort 19 Learning Community Plan:
1. Develop, articulate, implement, steward, and promote a shared vision;
2. Promote positive culture, provide professional development, apply best practice to learning, and design comprehensive professional growth plans;
3. Manage organization, operations, and resources;
4. Collaborate with Cohort 19 group members and other communities, respond to diverse needs, and mobilize resources;
5. Act with integrity, fairness, and ethics;
6. Understand, respond to, and influence the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.
